Guess what we’re having with dinner? Not potatoes...these are turnips. What? Who eats turnips? Try them, these are a much better potato substitute than anything else we’ve tried. So easy too, just like skillet potatoes or country potatoes.
Skillet Fried Turnips
4 small turnips (white and purple)
2T butter
2T olive oil
1tsp garlic powder
1tsp onion powder
S&P to taste
Melt the butter and olive oil on medium high heat in a large skillet. Add turnips and seasonings. Sauté for 20-30 minutes covered, flipping occasionally, until tender. Enjoy!
BTW-turnip are only 2 carbs per 1/2c serving
TIP: What to look for at the store - small, round, purple/white. Cut off both ends, then peel and rinse. Make thin slices or small cubes.
Bonus Recipe: Loaded Turnips
If you have any leftover, heat them up the next day and top with shredded cheese, bacon bits and little sour cream for loaded turnips! This batch was reheated in the airfryer.
